Year 3/4 Proposed Visit - parental response required by Friday, 30th September!
The Year 3 and 4 topic for this term is ‘Lights, Camera, Action!’ and is designed to focus on film production. We have linked many curriculum areas into our topic to make it engaging, educational and relevant for the children whilst providing them with a host of transferable skills. Our aim is to link together all of these skills and to create mini films in the final weeks of the term.
To support the children in developing their own complete film, from writing a script to creating a set and lighting, we would like to take the children on a trip to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, near Watford. The studio focuses on the making of the Harry Potter films and will provide the children with the opportunity to visit actual sets used in the films, learn about how to turn a script into a screenplay, explore costume design and ‘tricks of the trade’ in creating special effects.
As a school party, the entrance fee is heavily discounted and along with the bus fare, the cost of this trip is £20 per child. Whilst we do ask for this as a voluntary contribution, if we do not receive enough money from such contributions we will be unable to run the trip. This would be highly regrettable as this opportunity would allow the children to fully immerse themselves in the film making process as well as firing up their imaginations and developing their skills to create and direct their own productions.
We will need to have confirmation that parents are willing to make a voluntary donation before we confirm our booking so please complete the form HERE by Friday, 30th September. If we don't receive a minimum of 90% positive responses then we will not be able to run this trip.
We really hope that you can support us in creating a truly unique learning experience for the children.
