'Step On' Pedestrian Training for Year 1

Every year children in Year 1 take part in 'Step On' pedestrian training.

We feel this is an important life skill to emphasise to your child as we recognise and support the importance of developing road safety skills from an early age.

Both Mrs Harvey and Mrs Yallop have been trained by a Norfolk County Council Road Safety Officer and are fully qualified to offer this road safety training to children within our school.

Children will receive the training in small groups of 6 and the ratio of adults will be 1 adult to a maximum of 2 children at all times. The training will involve the children leaving the school grounds and walking a short distance from the school along a risk assessed route in order to further develop their road safety skills.

As we have already received your permission for your child to leave the school grounds for educational purposes around the locality of the school through the annual consent form completed in September, we will presume you wish your child to benefit from this road safety awareness training unless we are informed otherwise.

This training will take place during the mornings on Wednesday, 6th July, Thursday, 7th July (Mrs Harvey) Tuesday, 12th July andWednesday, 13th July (Mrs Harvey and Mrs Yallop).

If any parents are able to help out with this training then we would love to hear from you!

You can contact us by email at or leave your name at the school office.

Unfortunately this training can only take place with additional help to ensure the safety of the children so we look forward to hearing from you!
