Starting School - some reminders for our new parents and children!
Some information for our new Reception parents in preparation for the children starting school next week!
We hope you have had a lovely summer and we are really looking forward to welcoming your child as they begin school next week.
You would have been advised last term of their start date (this will be either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday) but if you do need reminding please contact the school office or email firstname.lastname@example.org and we can confirm the day allocated.
In preparation for next week we would like to share with you some useful information that we hope will make their first day as smooth as possible.
Please remember to bring:
- A filled water bottle (water only please). This can be replenished throughout the day in school as needed.
- Spare clothes and underwear (for just in case!). These are best kept in a rucksack so we can hang it on your child's coat peg.
- Wellies - to be left in school please.
You will have been given some name labels at the end of last term that we used on your child's transition visits. If you still have these if you could please pop one on your child then that would be really useful. However, please don't worry if you no longer have these or you may have misplaced them over the summer.
The children will not be doing PE next week so there is no need to bring their PE kit. However, please ensure you send this into school on Monday, 12th September. Once PE has been completed for the week your child will bring their PE kit home for washing so please bring it back again on the following Monday!
During the summer holidays you will have received your login details via email for Tapestry. As soon as your child begins school we will start using Tapestry to share with you what they have been up to, including photos. We have had some great feedback from last year about how much parents have valued this communication so if you have not yet registered please contact the school office or email email@example.com so that we can re-activate the automated link to enable you access. The link provided is time limited so if you have not had the opportunity to activate your account previously, you will need a new link sending so just let me know.
Finally, when you drop your child off on their first day, please pop through to the school office to collect the Collection Arrangements form. We ask all parents to complete this form annually to advise us of persons authorised to collect your child. Please note that we are unable to release your child at the end of the day to anyone not listed on the form (parents do not need to be included on this form, only alternative nominated people such as relatives or friends). A copy of the form and our policy is attached for your reference. You can, of course, print this off and complete ready to bring in on your child's first day, but blank copies will be available for you to collect from the school office if this is more convenient.
Of course, if you have any queries or questions please don't hesitate to contact us and we will do our utmost to make your child's transition into school the very best experience we can.
