Admissions information

As Principal, I am also always happy to show prospective parents around the academy as seeing both the teachers and pupils in action is the only way to get a real feel for the school. This is without doubt the most important way in which you will know if this is the school right for your child and therefore, please call us to book an appointment for whenever is convenient.

As a school, we have children from all over the King's Lynn area with perhaps only approximately half from catchment. Generally, this means we are full in each of our classes and most pupils remain within the school until the end of Year 6.

Therefore the school follows the admissions criteria of the Eastern Multi Academy Trust in the allocation of any school places where there is not a straight forward admission. A copy of the Trust’s admissions policy can be found on the Trust’s policies page.

In addition, Norfolk Local Authority manages all admissions on our behalf and can be contacted at:

Reception

For our yearly intake of Reception pupils, they are admitted to school in September of the school year when they have their 5th birthday (i.e. between 1st September and 31st August).

During the summer preceding this, we hold open evenings for our September intake followed by a series of transition visits to ensure that there is a smooth settling-in process.

High Schools

There are three main high schools in King’s Lynn where pupils go after leaving North Wootton Academy in Year 6 they include:

The high schools have open days during the autumn term each year when prospective parents and pupils can look round the schools. Details of these can be found on each school’s website.

In addition around 10-15% of our pupils move on to independent schools primarily in Wisbech and Cambridge.

Admission Appeals

As a school, we do try to ensure we are welcoming to all. However, there are physical limits within the school that restrict our numbers if we are simply full. If parents wish to appeal against a decision relating to admissions for North Wootton Academy, this must be done in writing and a form can be obtained from the academy office or by phoning 01553 672385. The academy follows the appeals process of the Norfolk Local Authority. Further information on this process can be found on the Norfolk Schools Admissions website.
